TransGard Acquires Soundscape Technology from Guardian

Audio-based tech and product line strengthens wildlife mitigation solutions.  

TransGard has announced that it has acquired the Soundscape™ technology platform, associated intellectual property, and product line from Guardian Technologies Group.

The product line will be called SoundGard™, and expands TransGard’s portfolio of wildlife mitigation solutions for electric utilities, industrial facilities, transportation infrastructure, telecommunications, renewable energy, and other critical infrastructure markets.

The acquisition builds on a successful exclusive relationship between Guardian and TransGard, and brings the proven technology under TransGard ownership.

Prior to the acquisition, TransGard served as the exclusive commercial partner for the SoundGard™ system, introducing the technology to customers seeking a science-based, humane approach to managing nuisance birds and wildlife. 

“I first saw what SoundGard could do during a 2024 Kansas State University study that paired our laser bird defense system with Guardian’s Soundscape technology,” said Bill Marks, Vice President of Sales at TransGard. “The results were compelling. Since then, we’ve seen customers trial the technology and many have gone on to purchase it. Now that we’ve brought SoundGard into the TransGard portfolio, we can continue investing in the technology, expand its applications, and provide the long-term innovation and support our customers expect.”

The SoundGard™ system utilizes Guardian’s Soundscape™ technology, which is designed to mask wildlife communication across a wide range of environments, rendering the affected space untenable for habitation or roosting. Whereas traditional “scare” sounds only cause the wildlife to temporarily move while assessing the perceived threat, the result for SoundGard™ is a science-based, non-lethal approach to reliably deter birds and other nuisance wildlife from the protected space.

The technology has been developed through more than five years of research and development and is supported by more than 20 university studies. SoundGard™ is used to help protect substations, industrial facilities, warehouses, communication towers, transportation hubs, distribution centers, and other critical infrastructure where wildlife activity can create operational challenges, contamination, and increased maintenance requirements.

The acquisition also strengthens TransGard’s position as a comprehensive provider of wildlife mitigation solutions. Combined with the company’s Animal Fence Systems and Laser Bird Defense solutions, SoundGard™ expands TransGard’s ability to help customers address multiple wildlife challenges through complementary technologies tailored to individual sites and operational requirements.

Customers will continue to receive the same proven SoundGard™ technology while benefiting from TransGard’s technical support and commitment to ongoing product innovation. Existing systems will continue to be supported without interruption, and future development efforts will focus on expanding applications and enhancing product performance.
