YORK, Pa. — TransGard LLC, a leading provider of animal-deterrent equipment to the power distribution industry, announced today that it has changed its web domain from transgardfence.com to transgardsolutions.com.
The new name better conveys the expansion of TransGard’s animal outage prevention services to substations. In addition to the new URL, all emails will now change to the “@transgardsolutions.com” address.
Since its founding in 1990, TransGard has manufactured and installed its patented, non-lethal, electrified fencing to deter climbing animals like squirrels and raccoons from entering substations. TransGard fences currently protect more than 3,500 substations across North America.
In recent years, TransGard has expanded its services to distribute Bird Control Group’s AVIX programmable laser equipment, an effective deterrent against roosting and nesting birds. Already, TransGard has installed lasers at more than 40 substations for 20 different utilities in 15 different states.
“The TransGard fence continues to be one of the most effective tools against substation outages caused by climbing animals,” said Bill Reichard, TransGard’s president. “But as our services have grown, we wanted our online presence to align with the full range of our solutions to unwanted animal intrusions from both the ground and the air.”
According to Reichard, the change to TransGard’s domain also anticipates future developments in substation protection.
“As animal incursions in substations increase, and as interest in our solutions continues to grow, we recognize the need to plan for new opportunities in animal mitigation, whatever they might be,” he said.
