TRANSGARD APPOINTS GREG FREEMAN AS NEW CEO

(YORK, Pa) — TransGard LLC announced today that it has hired Greg Freeman as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. TransGard is a leading provider of animal-deterrent equipment, with installations that currently safeguard thousands of North American substations.

As TransGard CEO, Freeman has assumed the operational and strategic leadership responsibilities previously held by Bill Reichard, who is remaining with the company in his capacity as Chairman.

Freeman brings to TransGard significant leadership experience and a track record of proven results.
Recently, he served in C-suite roles in specialty products and services — notably as president of the Household & Chemical Packaging business unit at York-based Graham Packaging.

TransGard’s patented substation fence currently protects more than 4,000 substations against incursion by squirrels and other climbing animals – a major cause of power outages. The company’s Laser Bird Defense, which uses an automated laser array to deter birds, has been rapidly adopted by substation operators since its introduction.

As CEO, Freeman will lead a period of growth at TransGard. The company continues to build a solid brand and reputation as the leading animal-deterrence solutions provider for utilities and other power providers, and sees a great opportunity to expand its reach into renewable energy, oil and gas, and other industrial power applications.

Freeman’s background also includes successful leadership stints at billion-dollar corporations in the U.S. and abroad. In each of his P&L roles, Freeman has generated double-digit growth and boosted efficiency. He holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a master’s in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
