TransGard names William Marks VP of Sales

TransGard LLC, a leading provider of animal-deterrent equipment to electrical substations, announced today that William Marks has been promoted to the newly created position of Vice President of Sales.

In this role, Marks will focus on sales team leadership, development and management of sales strategy, revenue growth, and enhancement of customer relationships. He will also continue to serve as TransGard’s Director of Sales, U.S. East, a position he has held since 2022. Marks’s base of operation will continue to be York, Pennsylvania.

TransGard provides proven animal-deterrent systems for the power distribution industry and other critical utility sectors. The company manufactures the only patented substation fencing that deters climbing animals by delivering a mild, non-lethal electric shock. To date, TransGard’s animal prevention solutions have been deployed at more than 4,200 substations.

TransGard is also the exclusive distributor of the hi-tech Laser Bird Defense, which uses a concentrated beam of light to deter birds from entering or roosting in electrical substations and other sites.

“We’re pleased to have Bill move into this new position at TransGard,” said Greg Freeman, TransGard’s CEO. “He has a proven track record of strategic selling and generating market growth within the company, and we look forward to his development of our sales team and strategy.”

TransGard has been protecting the electric power generation industry from animal incursions since the early 1990s, and in recent years has begun to expand animal-deterrent services into other sectors like manufacturing centers and the oil and gas industry.

TransGard, based in York, Pennsylvania, delivers patented substation protection exclusively engineered to eliminate substation outages caused by climbing animals and birds. TransGard’s innovative fences and Laser Bird Defense system have been deployed at more than 4,200 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
